Artist Statement.
They say water has memory. That it reacts to biological and mechanical signals predating humanity; that these signals are stored as information within every molecule of water. While the implications are profound, the science is inconclusive. Fortunately, art thrives in this void.
Cardo’s painting process explores this collective memory by transmuting into the visual realm distant signals traveling across vast timescales. Through multilayered preparation, which deliberately relinquishes control to the inherent fluidity of water, Cardo combines cymatics, physics, and environmental factors including wind, rain, temperature and setting to induce coherent forms from these signals, until all water evaporates and the painting is complete.
